Getting started: The shipper’s checklist
Onboarding with Amazon Freight is quick, practical, and streamlined. To set yourself up for success when getting started, we recommend gathering all key details for your shipments, including addresses, shipment weight and dimensions, your ideal pickup window, and any special accommodations or restrictions.
When you’re ready to book a load, follow these steps:
Create a shipper account
Start by setting up the login credentials you will use to book, track, and manage your shipments online.
Complete your business profile
Now that your account is created, it’s time to register your business with us. Enter your company name and address, primary contact information, and billing contact details for verification.
Pro Tip: Make sure your company name and address match the information on your W-9 form.
Start quoting your first load
While we verify your business, you can start exploring quotes. Enter your shipping origin and destination details into the portal, and follow the system prompts to proceed.
Pro Tip: We’ll provide verification details within three business days of sign-up.
Book a one-time or recurring load
After your business is fully verified, you can start booking loads through your account. This is where you’ll need those shipment details, including pickup availability, desired delivery date, shipment handling requests, and any specific driver instructions.
Pro Tip: You can book loads bound for Amazon Fulfillment Centers or move shipments between warehouses.

Moving forward: Our service guide
Every business ships differently. Your freight needs might change week to week, or you may run a tight, predictable schedule. To support the full spectrum, Amazon Freight offers three levels of freight service: full truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL) inbound, and intermodal (IMDL). The availability of these services varies depending on your business size and shipping needs. Use the section below to help determine the best option for your operation.
Full truckload
Our full truckload services are available to businesses shipping full trailers inbound to Amazon facilities or externally from warehouse to warehouse.
- What it means: A dedicated trailer carries your freight exclusively.
- Who it serves: Businesses with high-capacity freight shipping needs.
- Why it matters: FTL minimizes stops, increases load control, and delivers more predictable transit times. It’s often the most streamlined option for high-volume shippers. Plus, it can provide cost and time savings if your business can consolidate regular or frequent shipments into a single, larger load. For more insight on consolidating shipments, click here.
- Where we go: Our network covers thousands of shipping lanes across the United States.
Less-than-truckload inbound
We offer LTL services for businesses shipping smaller loads of inventory to Amazon Fulfillment Centers.
- What it means: Shipments from multiple businesses share trailer space.
- Who it serves: Shippers with inbound Amazon loads that don’t fill an entire trailer.
- Why it matters: LTL keeps shipping flexible and cost-effective as your business grows. You pay for the space you need, making this a great option for businesses with less frequent freight shipping needs.
- Where we go: Amazon Fulfillment Centers are located throughout the United States.
Intermodal
Our intermodal services are available to qualified shippers with consistent long-haul freight needs.
- What it means: A single container travels through multiple modes of transportation, typically truck and rail.
- Who it serves: Businesses moving long-haul freight over consistent lanes or schedules.
- Why it matters: IMDL offers reliable transit times at competitive rates, backed by Amazon’s innovative technology to provide visibility from start to finish.
